This achievement broke the decade-old record of 164, set in 2015, and set a new benchmark in the world of skydiving.
Amidst this historic feat, India proudly found its place on the global skydiving map through the representation of Sriraj Rajaram, who successfully participated in the record-setting jump. This marks the first-ever Indian representation at the Vertical World Record, opening doors for future Indian athletes to step into one of the most challenging disciplines in skydiving.
The Achievement
- 174 skydivers created a snowflake-shaped head-down formation at 19,000 feet, with just 60 seconds to take their slots and hold the structure.
- The record was set after eight attempts and years of preparation, showcasing the perseverance and determination of the athletes.
- Following this success, the team attempted to push boundaries further with a 188-person formation, achieving 187—a number that, while unofficial, now stands as the largest vertical formation ever flown.
Sriraj Rajaram – Breaking Barriers for India
Representing India in this elite global team, Sriraj Rajaram not only became part of history but also inspired a new generation of Indian skydivers. His participation is a testimony to the growing passion for adventure sports in India and a reminder that Indian athletes can excel on the world’s biggest platforms.
Sriraj shared his excitement after the event:
“I am glad to inform you that I have successfully represented India at the Vertical World Record. This is the first time India has been represented at this event, and I hope it inspires other countrymen and women to follow.”
